Several Friends participated in a successful prescribed burn of 100 plus acres of oak opening at a private landowner’s property this week. It is the time of year for burning native prairie and oak savannah to enhance those areas. DNR, land trusts, and private landowners will be using prescribed fire over the next 6-10 weeks. Native plants need fire to survive and thrive. Why prescribed fire in native prairie?
