Iowans voted Tuesday to raise taxes for conservation priorities.

Iowa has lost more than 90 percent of its original 6 million acres of wetlands. As a result, the state’s water quality, wildlife populations and residents have suffered.  Ducks Unlimited supported this amendment to create a dedicated and constitutionally protected Natural Resources Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund.  As an Iowan pointed out Tuesday: The west side of the Mississippi is now protected by dedicated funding sources from Minnesota to Arkansas.  Read the full article by Paul Smith in today’s Sports section of the Milwaukee Journal.
